Begin by deciding, that, no-matter how hard,
You'll always do what's right.
Decide right now, while you're thinking straight,
Before swayed by a storm-tossed night.
The next thing to do is decide in your heart:
A blessing; - you'll try to be.
No-matter who's path-way you cross today,
They'll remember you, - Happily!
From the person who likes you, and, who you care for too,
To the old grouch, that no one can stand;
Remember, it costs you nothing at all
To smile, and to lend a hand.
Oh, you can be bitter, like everyone else,
And say, "I'll show you! Yes, I will!"
But you'll lose more than you gain, including a friend,
And leave a heart with a little more chill.
To find a friend, you must stop your search,
And decide that you really don't care.
Because, pushing, and pressing, and prying and testing
Never fostered a friend anywhere.
No, to find a friend, you must be a friend;
And that takes more effort than not.
Which could be the reason most people we know
Find themselves, such a friend-less lot.
Well, I hope I have helped you in finding a friend.
Your task has just begun.
And you might follow these rules, and still not find your friend,
But, I may have found myself one.
