Have you ever heard the devil's voice? I have. It didn't sound like my voice sounds to you right now. In fact I couldn't even hear it with my ears. I heard it inside. I'm not sure if it was inside my head, or inside my heart, but I have heard his voice. I heard his voice once and it made me hurt someone. I heard his voice once, it made me say a bad word. I heard his voice once, when he told me to do something I shouldn't do. Have you ever heard the devil's voice?
Let we tell you what I would do if I were the devil. First of all, remember that the devil is smarter than the smartest person in the world. He used to be in Heaven. And he knows a lot more about Heaven and hell than you or I?
If I were the devil, I wouldn't look like the devil. I would use a disguise. If I had horns and tail, I would scare everyone away. So, I wouldn’t have horns and a tail.
If I were the devil, I wouldn't act like the devil. I would act very, very religious.
Because I only have so much time, I wouldn't bother kids who don't love Jesus. I already own those boys and girls. I would bother the boys and girls who to love Jesus.
If I were the devil, I wouldn't hang around churches that don't preach the Bible. I would hang around churches that do, so I could try to change the minds of boys and girls who attend.
I would whisper a lot of things in little boys and girls ears.
I would whisper, "Rock music isn't so bad, after all, I helped write it."
I would whisper, "You wouldn't have any friends if you did what your Sunday school teacher tells you to do." (Remember, when picking your friends you want to pick the right kind of friends. You'll find more of the right kind of friends in Sunday school. They are real friends.)
I would whisper, "Little sins aren’t so bad." (Remember, that's what Adam and Eve thought after talking to the snake. And who really was the snake?)
I would whisper, "Fight with brothers and sisters at home." (That way you’re sure to ruin your testimony at home)
I would whisper, "It's okay to do bad things when nobody is looking." (Remember when you're about to do something bad, if you look to the left and see no one, and you look to the right, and you look behind, and you look ahead and see no one, always remember to look up. Because someone is looking down.)
I would whisper, "Don't talk to anybody about Jesus they will think you're crazy. They will laugh at you." (But someday they may thank you in Heaven)
I would tell boys and girls they're not saved after they sin.
I would tell un-saved boys and girls not to get saved. I would tell them it's embarrassing and no fun.
I am not the devil. In fact, God's Holy Spirit lives inside of me. And God's Holy Spirit whispers to me. Now the devil still tries to talk to me and if I listen to him I'll be in more trouble. But, if I listen to God's Holy Spirit I'll stay out of trouble and please God at the same time.
Who are you listening to? Someone who loves you, or someone who hates you?
This morning I would like to give you the opportunity to decide. I'm hoping you will listen to the Holy Spirit because He is probably telling you right now that you should ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins and to come into your heart. That way He can talk to you all day long. That way you will go to Heaven some day when you die.
